Microbiology

Bacteriology Virology Mycology Parasitology

This is a HUGE area. So, here are some tips:

1. Group bacteria by their biochems, the diseases they cause, etc. Anything that makes them similar. Then try to remember what makes each one unique in that group. How would you tell it apart from the others?

2. Know the correct sampling and handling procedures for different kinds of specimens. This overlaps with all the other areas, but Micro has a giant chunk of the rules to remember. You might run into questions that describe how a sample was collected and what is wrong, if anything.

3. Focus on bacteria and a bit on viruses more than parasites and fungi. I'm not saying don't know about mycology or parasitology, but you need to know much more detail about bacteria.
